To allay my insecurities

13th July 2009

New literature from Ex Cathedra. A couple of new poems from me. They are about insecurity. Which is funny since I feel inadequate because my poems are only a few lines long. There are some poems that are three screens long. Someone tell me once and for all, does size matter? Or do I need a magic poem-lengthening cream? I am willing to undergo procedures.

There is a poem I really like by R.C. Miller, whom I’d not seen around before, so already this endeavor has paid off. There is also a gorgeous story by Barry Graham. It was dedicated to Nicolle Elizabeth. I have decided to change my name to Nicolle Elizabeth.

I love Vaughan Simons.

What is wrong with me? Why can’t I just say, “Well done, Ani,” and move on? Shouldn’t it be ‘between covers’? Or maybe ‘under cover’? The magazine looks dead cool but I have to say I found the white-on-black hard to read. Maybe I need new glasses.

all poems should be 4 lines long, the first line beginning with the letter P, the next with O, and then E and M. The following is an example.

I am going to get myself a Frequent User account with the Deed Poll office, so that I can change my name to that of whoever Barry Graham has dedicated his latest piece of prose to. That’ll work, I think.

Jim: Nah, “well done ani” is so boring. It’s not ‘between covers’ because I was thinking of cupped hands over mouths, not necessarily only bedding although there’s that, too.

Chris: So I haven’t been writing real poems?!

AUW: Damn. Wish I’d thought of that!
